Booth Space 

All booth spaces are located on either 57th Street between Kenwood and Woodlawn Avenues, or on Kimbark Avenue between 56th and 57th Street.  All spaces are sized to accommodate display tents measuring 10 ft. wide by 10 ft. deep. No electricity is provided/available. Display arrangements must meet with approval of the committee. The committee is looking for balance in terms of variety of product and the way in which it is displayed. All work must carry a selling price. Artists must exhibit work on both Fair days from 11 am to 6 pm. on Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm. on Sunday. Booths will be spaced for social distancing.

 

Sales and Taxes

Artists retain all revenue from the sale of their work. No commission on sales is due to the 57th Street Art Fair. Artists are responsible for collecting and reporting the State of Illinois and City of Chicago combined sales tax (10.25%) on any sales. All artists making sales in Illinois are required to report and pay all tax due based on their total receipts within ten (10) days of the close of the fair. 

Unloading, Parking & Set-up Instructions:

Most artists set up Saturday morning from 6 am onward. Your booth must be set up by 10:00 am. You may utilize only the booth space assigned to you. If using outside tent vendor, please note that no concrete weights are allowed as they infringe on other booth spaces. Please double check booth numbers. Please be courteous to other artists:  unload and move your vehicle as quickly as possible  Do not unload until you have a spot at the curb in front of your booth space. Move your car to street parking once unloaded and return to your spot to set up your tent. No double parking is permitted.   Street parking is available on the 58th and 59th Streets, the Midway Plaisance, and Woodlawn Avenue.  Artists with larger vehicles and trailers are advised to look for parking on the Midway.  Artists may leave displays overnight, Saturday, at their own risk. Security will be provided, but any damage or loss will be the responsibility of the artists and not the Art Fair Committee. 

 

*Please note that this is a residential area and residents have not granted the art fair permission to close off the streets or allow tent set up on Friday.

 

Unloading Access Routes:

Booths on 57th Street between Kenwood and Kimbark Avenues: Head north on Kenwood from 58th Street to west on 57th Street (exit south via alleyway toward 58th Street or Kimbark Avenue south);  
 

Booths on 57th Street between Woodlawn and Kimbark Avenues: Head east on 57th Street from Woodlawn (exit via alleyway heading north toward 56th Street or on Kimbark Avenue south);

 

Booths on Kimbark Avenue or 56th Street:

Head east on 56th Street from Woodlawn or south from 55th Street (exit via 56th Street east or Kimbark Avenue south)

 

Sunday Load-out Instructions:

All artists can begin breaking down at 5:00 pm. NOTE: If you are on the West side of Kimbark, you must remove your belongings to the grass to allow for a clear curb in front of your booth space. Artists will have vehicular access to Kimbark, the alley and 57th Street ONLY when all materials have been packed (including tenting) and a volunteer committee member gives you a ticket. Traffic passes will be distributed when space for your vehicle is available.

 

Police, committee members and volunteers will be at the intersections of Kenwood and 57th Street, Kimbark and 56th Street, Kimbark and 57th Street, 57th and Woodlawn and at the 56th Street entrance to the alley to assist you. Take your junk with you! All refuse must be disposed of in a trash receptacle. Do not leave behind articles of any kind on streets or lawns.
